„Meditation und Kontemplation – Wege zum Frieden“

Im spanischen Avila wird vom 27.-30. Juli 2017 eine Begegnung von Vertreterinnen und Vertretern der christlichen und der buddhistischen Mystik stattfinden. Das Thema lautet: „Meditation und Kontemplation – Wege zum Frieden“.

Die Tagung in Avila ist Teil einer interreligiösen Begegnungsreihe, die veranstaltet wird vom „International Centre of Teresian and Sanjuanist Studies (CITeS) – University of Mysticism“. Im Juli 2017 geht es um das Gespräch Christentum-Buddhismus. Von christlicher Seite nimmt der Orden der Karmeliter/innen teil und von buddhistischer Seite das „Centre of Buddhist Studies of the University of Hong Kong“.
 
In Zeiten der spirituellen Krise und der vielfältigen Trennungen zwischen Menschen werde der interreligiöse Dialog dringend gebraucht, so die christlichen Veranstalter zur Grundidee der Begegnungsreihe.

„Indem wir unsere Schwestern und Brüder der Theravada-Tradition von Herzen einladen, möchten wir unser gegenseitiges Verständnis unseres Glaubens und unserer Praxis vertiefen. Wir haben nicht den Wunsch, Unterschiede zwischen unseren beiden Traditionen zu negieren, sondern wir möchten, entsprechend den Prinzipien der Gleichheit, des tiefen Respektes und des Wunsches nach Zusammenarbeit, die Möglichkeit eröffnen, einen ehrlichen und fruchtbaren Dialog zu führen und Wege zu finden, um mit der gegenwärtigen spirituellen Krise umzugehen.“

Auf der Tagung wird es unter anderem Präsentationen geben, das Gespräch an Runden Tischen, Gebete und Meditationsworkshops sowie Rezitationen, alles das in einer Atmosphäre der Geschwisterlichkeit.
